Spring, what took you so long? And Husband Bribery

Yay, spring has "officially" arrived as my student Nick announced to me today.  Just a couple weeks ago it looked like this:
I think the Naked Ladies look a little cold!   Yet they are tenacious, just like our crazy Nebraska weather.  Today it looks like this:
And what a day it was!  Sunny and not too warm, it was a perfect day for not doing anything productive.  Check!  These forsythia bushes are the first to bloom in our backyard, and they look to me like a yellow beacon shouting Hallelujah to me every morning when I open the curtains!
The grass isn't too green yet, but I know it will come in due time.  And you know me, I can't resist an attempt at an artful picture of our yard:
I love these so much, I bought some for the front of our house as well.
So I've been promising some pictures of Grace's room.  Well... it isn't really ready yet, but I can show you the latest developments.
Here are the curtains I've made for the room.  I still have to hem them, but I think they are going to look darling.  Jason knows that nothing is sacred when it comes to blog posting pictures, but I know he is not going to be thrilled that his office mess is on display for everyone to see.  I know it won't be like this for much longer though and I won't have to beg him to clean up his mess.  It is more like bribery, because today he ordered the parts to build a new computer.  He has been wearing me down on this issue for probably years, but he finally found the crack in my resolve when he pointed out that since he will no longer have a nice office, a new computer would really assuage the pain...!  I know that as soon as that computer arrives, he is going to be setting it up downstairs in his new office space, so baby decorating, here I come!
This is the artwork I've created for the room.  I just took construction paper, cut out the shapes and glued them down.  I bought these frames for $9 each at Michaels!  I wasn't able to cut the lines perfectly straight, but I think they turned out well.
This is the changing table we bought on craigslist for $30.  Nothing special, but it will do the trick.  All I need is a crib and a dresser.  I'm still hoping to find a dresser that I like on craigslist, but with Jason's work schedule it has been hard to find the time for him to run around town and pick something up for me.  We'll figure it out.  I'll probably get the crib new at NFM to avoid any worry about recalls.  That lamp sitting on the changing table is a gift from my parents!  It is called the Early Bird Lamp from the Land of Nod.  Here is a better picture:
I can't wait to set it up on the dresser, when I get one.  I have stuff to put in the dresser also!  I went to a consignment sale for baby and kids things, recommended to me by my friends Jen and Libby.  I was hoping to find some furniture, which I did not, but I did find some adorable clothing items!  I bought probably 20 different outfits for $2-$4 each!  Here are my favorites:
Can everybody say "aww"?  I can't believe that we'll have a little person that will actually fit in these dresses soon.  Yes, bottom left is a little pink sailor outfit!!  These are all used except the blue polka dot one still has the tags on it!  Score!

  2. Thanks, Jen! I feel kind of guilty how easy they were to make. I'm leaning toward Grace Victoria, though still playing around with some other options!
