Sister Games

I would not have guessed that a 7 month old could be so much fun for a 2 year old!

They play together all the time.  Often, the first thing Clara says to me in the morning is "Gay!"  Grace too often asks about Clara's whereabouts.  They love each other!

I had to add one more!  Peekaboo is a classic that happens multiple times daily at our house.  It never gets old!

Ready for a Bed!

Grace has been sleeping in her crib almost since day one.  It has been nice that she is safe and not roaming the house at night!  Some people (cough cough Mom) have been gently suggesting that Grace might be ready for a real bed.  We plan to do that soon, but we've been a bit too busy to haul the family to the furniture store.  This morning she said to me, "I can get out on my own!"  She then threw a leg over the side and slid out.  She has probably been capable of it for quite some time, but it never occurred to her to try until today!  So before we get the real furniture, we put the convertible slide on her crib for her to use in the meantime.  And BOY is she excited about it!

All evening she has been running in and out, making my students come in and check it out.  Hopefully nighttime will go smoothly tonight!

7 Months Old!

Clara is 7 months old today!

She has 4 teeth, and an additional THREE teeth that I've noticed are just barely poking through.  She is a toothy girl!  We are both in pain because of it but she is slowly getting the hang of her new chompers and it isn't affecting her nights' sleep.

Grace does a fantastic job playing with Clara.  She loves to zoom her vehicles around her.  They both enjoy it when Clara is covered in a blanket and Grace runs over and rips it off and shouts "Peekaboo!"  Sometimes Grace will hide in a closet or behind the coffee table and surprise her from there.  It s a joy to watch, and Grace will do it over and over!  I think Grace is really enjoying having a playmate.  Sometimes, Grace will even ask to wake Clara up when she is napping so they can play together!

A few times I've noticed Clara saying "Gay" very clearly.  I like to think that she is trying to say Grace.  I've noticed it in particular after Grace leaves the room and Clara is looking around for her.  It is hard to know if this is what she is trying to say, but I wouldn't be surprised if she says Grace before she says Momma!  She also says "Dadadadadada."

Clara still has a bit of a goopy eye.  We've been medicating it and it is getting a lot better, but you may notice that she squints slightly.  We hope it clears up soon.  Grace had the same problem so we aren't too worried about it.

Happy New Year to you all!
