Two Weeks Old!

Grace is two weeks old today!  We are doing well and starting to figure out the whole feeding thing.  I really have to pay attention to her cues to make sure she is getting enough, but I enjoy the closeness it brings.  My mom is still here and I'm nervous about her leaving!  It sure is nice having an extra couple of hands.
My baby is named after my Grandma Grace, and she made her this beautiful blanket.  I couldn't hold back the tears when I opened the box the other day because it really means a lot to me that she made her this.  See, she made blankets for my sister and me just like this one, and we loved them literally to pieces.
Here is my blanket.  Yes I still have it, holes and all.  She has had to sew it back together several times.  It is blue because they thought I was going to be a boy, but it turns out that blue is my favorite color anyway.  Held up pretty well, don't you think?
This is one of my favorite childhood pictures because I'm playing my Grandma's piano and it looks like I'm reading music.  I'm not a genius kid, I'm not actually reading music, so I don't know what I was looking at here.  Did you see the blankie in the corner?  I didn't go anywhere without it, and I hope Grace loves hers as much as I loved mine.
So far, the signs are pretty good for that!

Monday is D-Day!

My mom is here, waiting for Grace to arrive!  It is fabulous having her here, especially for the support in this crazy time.
Here we are, barefoot and baking in the kitchen.  I had a hard time figuring out how to get this apron (another fabulous gift from Kathleen!) to stay on.  With no natural waist, below the boobs it is!
Here is the fruits of our labor!  This is a beautiful plum cake, which is another selection from the Martha Stewart Food magazine.

Speaking of labor, I just found out that I don't get to have one.  Grace is in breach position, and much too big to flip the right away.  I have a C-section scheduled for Monday.  I'm beyond disappointed and incredibly emotional, but I'm doubly glad to have the support of my mom and my amazing husband!  Wish me luck this Monday!  We are SO excited to finally get to meet her, especially Jason who confessed is "tired of waiting."

Backsplash: Check!

Jason finished the backsplash tile!
It was a little agonizing to wait the 72 hours in between grout application and sealer application, plus another 48 hours after that before it could get wet, but it was worth the wait!  I think it looks beautiful; Jason did an amazing job.
Jason likes to leave the under cabinet lighting on 24/7 so that we can admire it every time we walk by.  I'm sure that excitement will wear off in a little bit so we can be more frugal with our energy usage.
This is the first time we've had covers on these electrical outlets!
