Day 79

Jason and I worked off and on all day and you'd think we would be farther...

Or at least WE thought we'd be farther after working as hard as we did today.

We didn't make Jason's end of the week goal, but progress is being made, and the end of flooring installation is in sight!

Day 78

We worked together on the floor today.

Jason had to saw part of the plywood in the bathroom.

Then he had to chisel out the pieces.  See our beautiful pink bathtub in the background there?

We're almost done with the hallway!

Here it is from inside the hallway.

Day 77

Jason moved the gas line for the stove, and he even thought it was easy!  I'm so impressed!  He is getting to be so handy.

Day 75

Jason finished the hard part!  (I hope!)  He now has a straight line from the bedrooms, through the hallway, dining room, and all the way through the kitchen!

He was hoping to be done with the floor by the end of the week.  We shall see!

Day 74

We have flooring in the side entry!

Day 73

Jason repaired some of the subflooring in the side entry.

Day 71

More floor progress!

Day 70

Floor progress!

Jason says he was in the groove.

Day 69

Today, we had a wood flooring professional come over and make the necessary cuts in the hallway so that Jason can continue.

Here Jason is showing me something, I'm not sure what.

And by the way, the flooring professional was very complimentary of Jason's work so far.  He said that he would never have been so careful!

Day 67

Jason was able to put in the vent today!

This is the heat duct that used to be in the wall that we removed.  Now it is going to come out through a vent in the island.  Well when we have an island.

Here it is incognito under the subflooring.

Day 66

I painted the ceiling, but it looks like it needs another coat.  Painting a ceiling is hard!

I'll let Jason do that :)

Jason bought and had this duct work cut so he can move the old wall vent to the island.  We'll see if that is easy or not.

Jason has been getting really good at patching plaster holes (that he's made).  He's been very busy the last few weeks with many work concerts and contract negotiations, but he's been fitting in things here and there.  The next few weeks are slower for him, so be prepared for lots of changes!  We have a plan for the hallway situation and should be getting things underway soon!

Day 65

I painted the kitchen today.

An action shot.

Am I ready for ANTM?  Yeah, probably not, it's too posey.

It really isn't this bright yellow.  I think it is just reflecting light strangely since it is still wet.  Tomorrow I'll paint the ceiling again!  Woohoo, my favorite part.

Day 59

We have finished the primer coat in the kitchen.  I think the flat ceiling looks nice!  The drywall guy was not sure it would look good because the beams are a little uneven, but I don't think you can tell.  I was insistent on preserving the historical look of a plaster ceiling if possible.

Jason is working on some electrical stuff.

He is also repairing some plaster and getting it ready for painting.

Day 58

One small step toward eradicating the pink!

The color is called Homestead Resort Pumpkin, whatever that means.  It is a little hard to see the true color from this picture, but it is a golden yellow.  And actually this is the tinted primer, so perhaps it will look a little different when we get the next coat up.  I'm really digging it!

This picture shows it a little better.  I've never painted before, and I did this pretty much by myself.  I quit before I painted the ceiling, so we'll do that tomorrow most likely.

Floor progress!  We're actually a little stuck on that right now.

We don't know how to transition the bedroom existing hardwoods to the new hardwoods in the hallway.  Any suggestions?  We won't be able to continue until we figure it out.

Day 53

Jason made it a little farther!

Here is a different angle.

Day 52

We made it passed the fireplace!

Jason cut an even smaller piece for this corner!  He did an amazing job.  Can you see it?
